Cattle Australia’s flagship event, Cattle Connect, is headed for Dalby, Qld, on November 11-12, with an expanded program including the inaugural Cattle Australia Cup campdraft competition.
The campdraft will add a fun competitive and social aspect to Cattle Connect by celebrating a sport that’s unique to Australia’s cattle industry.
It will complement the business side of proceedings, including field demonstrations of agtech, conference presentations from industry leaders and international experts, and the Cattle Australia (CA) annual general meeting, all capped off by the Cattle Connect Sundowner, featuring Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA) chef, Sam Burke, and his live cooking demonstration ‘Showstopper Steaks – the producer, the butcher and the chef’.
“Following the resounding success of the inaugural Cattle Connect event in Tamworth last year, the CA team is working with producers, businesses and industry organisations to make this year’s celebration in Dalby even bigger and better,” CA chief executive Will Evans said.
“After more than 500 people from across the beef supply chain turned out at Bective Station for a one-day event in 2024, it was a no-brainer to expand the program to a beefed up two-day program that stays true to our goal of fostering knowledge sharing, networking, and collaboration among the supply chain.”
Mr Evans said CA’s conference program would follow the theme of ‘Valuing Beef’s Future’, as part of CA’s review of the cattle transaction levy and its objective that the industry’s research, development, marketing, advocacy and biosecurity programs are adequately resourced for current and future needs.
“I will be providing delegates with an update on the process the review will follow, including the critical issues that need to be assessed, and the importance of producers contributing their views to this critical discussion.
“Engaging with producers, industry leaders, and supply chain organisations at Cattle Connect 2025 is the first step in that process.”
Other Key-note presenters will include Assistant Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, Senator Anthony Chisholm; Chief Executive Officer Australian Country Choice, Anthony Lee; and General Manager, Sustainability – Planet for the Woolworths Group, Bel Quince; plus there will be sessions led by our National Beef Leaders Alumni and AgForce Queensland.
