Cattle Australia is urging industry stakeholders to have their say on Canada as an applicant country for the import of fresh (chilled and frozen) beef to Australia.
The Australian Government has assessed a proposal to add Canada to the list of countries able to apply to import fresh beef and beef products to Australia.
Countries on that list can apply to undergo assessment for that purpose and, if approved, fresh (chilled and frozen) beef may be imported under specified conditions.
The Government is now seeking feedback on the proposal. The Department of Agriculture’s draft report recommends adding Canada to the list of countries able to apply to import fresh beef and beef products to Australia.
Your feedback will be considered during the process to finalise the draft report. The final report will be published as an addendum to Australia’s published policy requirements for the importation of fresh beef, Fresh (chilled or frozen) beef and beef products from approved countries.
To read the draft report and submit your feedback, please visit the Department’s Have Your Say page.
Feedback must be submitted by AEDT 4pm Wednesday, 28 February 2024.
Your feedback and submissions will be considered once the consultation period has closed. The Government will inform registered stakeholders of the release of the final report and provide feedback on submissions received during the consultation period.
