MLA has recently released a new report that explains why supporting current red meat consumption in three to four healthy, balanced meals a week aligns with dietary and environmental objectives.
The findings, based on Australian data, explain how foods in the Australian diet impact on the environment in different ways according to how and where they are produced and how much is consumed ie reducing food waste is key – which means eating all foods, including red meat, in line with amounts recommended in the Australian Dietary Guidelines and avoiding household food waste. The report can be found on MLA’s Healthy Meals website along with a webinar and podcast on the subject.
