The Cattle Australia (CA) Board of Directors has re-elected, for a further 12-month term, Garry Edwards as Chair and Adam Coffey as Deputy Chair in the first Board meeting since the CA Annual General Meeting last month.

Mr Edwards, who has served as Chair since February 2024, said he was honoured to be re-elected to the position and looked forward to continuing the vital work of the organisation alongside Mr Coffey and their fellow Board Directors.

“Over the past 12 months, CA has come into its own as a strong organisation that engages with and advocates on behalf of Australia’s grass-fed cattle producers, and it’s easy to forget the organisation is now just two years old,” Mr Edwards said.

“In that time, we have continued some of the great traditions of the cattle industry’s  peak industry body, such as the annual Rural Awareness Tour, while also carving out CA’s own identity by launching new initiatives, establishing new events, delivering vital policy and proactively lobbying the interests of our largest single animal agricultural economic sector on behalf of all producers.”

Despite the success of CA thus far, Mr Edwards said the Board and CA staff would not be resting on their laurels.

“Looking ahead to 2025, we hope to deliver more new events and activities; see increased engagement with our Regional Consultative Committee representatives; and, closer collaboration with Meat & Livestock Australia to achieve greater profitability-linked outcomes from the levy investment, while developing and advocating for initiatives that advance our industry,” Mr Edwards said.

“The expansion of CA’s activities in 2025 will see us tackle the challenges of how we better communicate to our customer base of beef lovers the great virtues of our nutritious red meat protein, and the positive, nature-engaged approach we take to managing and developing our vast lands.

“As a Board, we remain committed to representing the interests of all grass-fed cattle levy payers, and protecting the sustainability, profitability and competitiveness of the beef industry.”

Mr Coffey was also elected in February 2024 as Deputy Chair and said his re-election to the Board at last month’s AGM and to the position of Deputy Chair signalled CA members’ confidence in the work of the Board.

“I look forward to working alongside my fellow Board Directors as we continue to engage in a meaningful and progressive manner on topics of significance for our industry,” Mr Coffey said.

“Every beef producer has a stake in decisions that are made that affect our industry, either directly or indirectly, and I encourage all grass-fed cattle levy payers to become actively involved in our organisation, to ensure our industry’s prosperity for current and future generations.”
